Dina grew up on a farm in the Free State where she had learned to love all the elements of nature. This influenced her work and you will always find traces of organic nature in all her art.

She received her degree in Nursing at the University of Stellenbosch in 1985 (specialising in Psychiatry). Her interest in art began with a ceramics course she took at the University of Natal. Because of her passion and desire to know more about art, she decided to go back to university and study at the University of the Free State.

She acquired her BA degree in Fine Arts cum laude at the University of the Free State in April 2013, specialising in sculpture. Since then she has been involved as a part-time lecturer at the Fine Art Department, mostly working with first year students with clay as sculptural medium.

She was involved in sculpture and painting projects for the War Museum in Bloemfontein since 2009. In 2011 she completed a mosaic art work for the UFS Sculpture-on-Campus Project in collaboration with artist and lecturer Jaco Spies and the Tshiamo Art project.

She also participated in group exhibitions at Oliewenhuis Art Museum, Johannes Stegmann Art Gallery and the Vryfees exhibition at the Scaena Theatre.  Her artworks have been included in many public and private collections.

She further started her own art studio in 2014. Her students attend weekly classes in drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics. Workshops in Raku firing, African pit firing, silkscreen, drawing and etching are also on the studio’s annual calendar. People are her passion and she finds art to be a medium for inspiring and influencing them to enrich their lives.
